The God Who Loves

It’s a bit easier to act with proper Christian attitudes about grace, mercy, and forgiveness when surrounded by brothers and sisters on Sunday mornings within the walls of the Church. And that’s not wrong since it is where we learn about grace, mercy, and forgiveness. But what if we are forced to confront the reality of forgiveness from God’s perspective, and offer it to those who most emphatically do NOT deserve it. Today, it would be as if the entirety of al Qaeda turned en masse to Christ. Sure, we could celebrate…but what if we’d been the family of those they murdered? What if they then wanted to move into our neighborhoods? How far does our trust in repentance and forgiveness and mercy go?

Listen to Pastor Rob on Jonah chapter 4 and wrestle with the bold assertion that our heart for people in this world is never comparable to God’s heart for them…
