Samson: the Weak Strong Man

Samson: the Weak Strong Man

God’s discipline in the life of his people is intended for our good. It often looks like hardship, hurt, struggle, disappointment. His disappointment is intended to draw us closer to Him, to find our worth and value and security in Him alone. But in the book of Judges, this is not what happens. Rather than the experiences of hurt and struggle turning their hearts towards the Lord, the people of the time of Judges in Israel turned away from the Lord. They just didn’t get it, not even crying out to the Lord when they were oppressed, not standing up for truth and freedom. No more so than in the story of Sampson, the weak strong man. ┬áHe was so very strong – the strongest judge – but was even weaker willed. But though Sampson failed, God is good, and He is still good today. God answered his prayers when he was blind, and saved.

Listen and hear of the God who will answer when we call out in our blindness…
